Making your business purpose clear

Did you know you when someone comes to your website you have *3 seconds* to grab their attention and assure them they’re the right place, before they hit Back or try another search.

So, be honest, how’s your website stack up? Can a new visitor see really clearly WHAT YOU DO, and how you can help them, in 3 seconds or less?

This is not the time to get overly cute or creative! Wit, clever or unexpected wordings, and in-jokes all take time to work out. You don’t have that time.

Just make it really clear what you DO, WHO you do it for, and for bonus points tell them why they should care! (People are always asking, even subconsciously “What’s In It For Me?” #wiifm)

A good formula for this can be:

I help < insert your tribe > get/do/go/make/find < insert your product/service > so that < insert usual results >.

Here’s a few examples of this:

✔️ I help women who are turning 30 go from lost and unfulfilled to empowered and excited. @turning30coach

✔️ I help creative business owners get on YouTube to grow their business! @trena_little

✔️ Nutrition coach for mamas who want to be a healthy example to their daughters. @vivfitcoach

This isn’t the only way to let know people what you do, but it’s not a bad place to start. So take a look at your site. Could someone tell in 3 seconds or less what you actually Do, and why they should care?

To help you identify your own purpose statement, I’ve got a free workbook that will guide you through this exercise, as well as some others, to help you well and truly grab your visitor’s attention, assure them they are in the right place, and help them take the next step with you.
