Bookshops that sell coffee. Yes, still! Even though I must sheepishly admit that most of the books I read these day are on my iPad, there’s still nothing that can compare to sitting down in a real bookshop & holding real books…whilst being allowed to sip real coffee. A coffee shop adjoining a bookshop is a good compromise, but there’s nothing like sitting & sipping amongst shelves piled high with the greats.
The Known World bookshop in Ballarat lets you do just that! It’s an absolute gem of a bookshop.

To some awesome podcasts by Shawn Stevenson on improving the quality and value of your sleep. Shawn is a big proponent of the health benefits of sleep, and has some doable tips to help you get the most of your 8-9 hours a night.
If you don’t mind your health advice dished out by a well-built, tatted, Taye Diggs-esque, all round nicely informed, passionate guy, then you are going to love Shawn as much as we do.

That sitting down is the new smoking. This little nugget is starting to pop up all over the place, but we think the IQS team did a great job of bringing together the key points in their post: “Is Sitting the New Smoking?”
It contains worrying statements like:
- “Every hour of seated TV watching cuts 22 minutes off your lifespan.”
- “The amount of exercise you do doesn’t reduce the negative effects of sitting.”
